Sophia Halekakis passed away peacefully December 9, 2021. She was a member of Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox church in Northridge California. She was actively involved in church activities and events. She enjoyed bowling with her husband for the church's bowling league. She liked spending time with family and friends in her community and her fondest memory was making and serving loukoumades along side her family for the Saint Nicholas Valley Greek Festival for 33 years.

She leaves behind her husband of 67 years John Halekakis and her 7 children Michael (Gina) Halekakis, Kathy (Chris) Kerhulas, Anna Halekakis, Christo (Andrea) Halekakis, Nico (Megan) Halekakis, Maria (Dave) Nebelsky, Fr. Cosmas (Presvytera Michelle) Halekakis and 27 grandchildren and 9 great grand children. Sophia's big smile will be greatly missed by her loving family and devoted friends.

Funeral services will take place at Saint Sophia Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1324 S. Normandie Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90006 on Thursday, December 16, 2021 at 11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Monastery of the Holy Theotokos, Life-Giving Spring at PO Box 549, Dunlap, CA 93621 or Saint Nicholas Ranch stnicholasranch.org .
