Steven Richard
Saunders
May 20, 1956 – July 17, 2019
Steven Richard Saunders, "Steve", ended his battle with cancer and chose peace on July 17, 2019 surrounded by his California family of close friends.
Steve was born on May 20, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to James L. and Shirley Saunders. The family moved to Fort Worth, Texas when Steve was 3, and Steve lived there until after high school when he ventured out on his own to follow his music, magic and writing aspirations. Steve pursued a career in each of these areas first in Nashville, TN and in the Los Angeles, CA area, where he settled. He lived the last 30 years of his life in the Los Angeles, California area.
Steve's passions were split between music, magic and writing - all of which he did well. He loved to entertain and did so eloquently as a member of the prestigious Magic Castle in Hollywood, California. With his music, he had often played at restaurants and social events, again entertaining many with his talents. During the last years of his life, he was writing a novel, and prior to that endeavor, had written numerous short stories and screen plays. Steve had a vast following of friends outside California, but particularly from Scotland, where he hoped to retire. Unfortunately, Steve never made it to Scotland while living, but arrangements have been made to deliver his ashes to Scotland to be part of the countryside itself, which we believe he would have appreciated.
Steve is survived by his sister, Shauna Gheen of Fort Worth, Texas, and her husband, Gordon, their two children, Aaron and Cameron, and a great niece, Dakota; also his brother, Scott Saunders of Nashville, TN, and his sons Brandon and Justin, as well as an extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles. Memorial services are pending. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, or a charitable organization of your choice.
